My wife and I were passing through the area and looking for somewhere to stop for dinner, we spotted the sign for this pub and decided to pull in. It's truly a little gem tucked just back from the main high st, the food was amazing and the staff were exceptional! Well done to all that work at The Rose & Crown, we will be recommending you to our friends and we will certainly be back!

Visited yesterday for a late Sunday lunch and wasn't disappointed! Warmly welcomed and quickly sat in the 'restaurant' area where we selected from the Sunday lunch menu. It was great to see how busy it had obviously been shortly before we arrived. The two young waitresses were first class! Efficient, polite, friendly and an asset to the pub! The food was very nice. We both had the roast beef which was blushing and tender. The vegetables were well cooked and hot. All finished off with a homemade sticky toffee pudding and custard We will definitely visit again and highly recommend for a warm welcoming pub experience!

The food was nice. Parking is very limited. On our second visit, we parked at the free car park in the village and walked over to the pub. Friendly lady serving. The pub has a lot of character in a nice village (near to Rudyard Kipplings house at Batemans) although the pub can sometimes be a bit noisy if you want a quiet meal.

Absolutely great stay, over 500 years old, mind you're head as the roof is very low. We had a wonderful stay here 5 mins away from National trust Bateman's. Our evening meal was one of the largest pub meals we had ever seen. The room was spotlessly clean and very cozy, the staff were warm and welcoming. We had a wonderful time here and would recommend staying here if you are in the area. This place is older than the Mary Rose, 1480 Great atmosphere.
